General

We support the new generation of researchers: The Joint VCQ & quantA PhD Call, Discovery Projects and a quantA Fellowship program.

Quantum Science Austria (quantA), a Cluster of Excellence funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and supported by six partner institutions, is at the forefront of advancing quantum sciences across Austria. With members like the University of Innsbruck, Austrian Academy of Sciences, Johannes Kepler University Linz, University of Vienna, TU Vienna, and the Institute of Science and Technology Austria, quantA champions a research environment that thrives on diversity and international collaboration.

quantA Fellowship Program: Cultivating Global Talent

Our Quantum Science Austria Fellowship Program is designed to develop the careers of young researchers who are eager to push the boundaries of quantum science. We're looking for innovative thinkers whose ideas resonate with our core research areas:

  • Quantum Nature of Space, Time, and Gravity: Explore fundamental quantum mechanics and their implications on the universe.
  • New Paradigms for Quantum Information Science: Develop cutting-edge approaches in quantum computing and data processing.
  • Physics of Engineered Quantum Many-Body Systems: Examine complex quantum systems and their technological applications.

We welcome applications from around the world, ensuring that every candidate receives equal consideration regardless of background. We believe that a variety of perspectives enriches our community and drives forward the frontier of quantum science.

Collaboration with the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology

In partnership with the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology (VCQ), quantA also offers PhD positions in several dynamic research groups at the University of Vienna:

  • Quantum Nanophysics Group led by Markus Arndt: Engage in the intersection of quantum mechanics and nanoscale systems.
  • Quantum Control and Many Body Physics Group led by Andreas Nunnenkamp: Investigate the control and dynamics of many-body quantum physics.
  • Quantum Information Science and Quantum Computation Group led by Philip Walther: Advance the field of quantum computing and information theory.

These opportunities provide aspiring quantum scientists with the support and environment to flourish, contributing to significant advancements in the field alongside leading experts.

We invite all enthusiastic researchers passionate about quantum science to join us in our mission to explore and expand the boundaries of what's possible. Dive into our research, meet our teams, and discover how you can contribute to our community at Quantum Science Austria.
